I don't socialize, I don't even know my neighbors names, and have no wish to. I don't need a restaurant, movies or shopping I currently have 1800 sq of garage, and 2,000 sq ft of house, 3 of the 4 bedrooms are empty, there is just two of us. I make a fine salary, I can afford more house than the two of us need or want.

Some of you guys are drawing odd conclusions about me and my life. Quality of life (in my opinion) is going to be much better with LV amenities and the shorter commute. Look for a fixer in the NW if you are that tight on funds. Pahrump would offer nothing to make it worth it IMHO. My commute in texas was 104 miles a day for 4 years & No, I would definately not do it again. So yeah, weighing those factors as you are, it's up to you to make the decision that only you think is the right one.Įta: I was writing my post as PinkString posted so disregard this post as it is essentially a duplicate of hers. However, I do agree with NLVgal and others in that I too am of the philosophy of living as close to work as possible for the more time spent commuting, the less time you have to be with family. Just another suggestion since you seem wanting to be rural and don't mind spending time commuting. Being in Clark County, everything will be just slightly higher than in Nye County (Pahrump). Overton will probably have very slightly higher property taxes than Pahrump as the Overton area is in Clark County. George but when we did go into the metropolitan area, it was usually a pretty quick trip as even from Mesquite (91 miles from our house to the strip) we could sometimes make it in a bit over an hour as we could safely go 85+ until dropping into the valley. When we lived in Mesquite, we did not make the trip into Vegas often as we did most of our shopping and doctor appointments in St. Time-wise, I don't think it would that much more time than commuting from Pahrump and it may be a more reliable commute as you don't have to "jump the hump" coming from Pahrump (but again, you'd still have to fight I-15 traffic through the center of Vegas). If wanting a rural area that is a bit less expensive than the immediate outskirts of LV, you also might want to consider the Overton area (Moapa, Moapa Valley, Logandale) as my friends and I jokingly call the area "the little Pahrump." Although it's 75ish-miles from the Henderson airport, it's an interstate highway commute that is wide open UNTIL you have to fight traffic through Vegas proper on I-15.
